Terms of use

Last updated October 22, 2026

Welcome to ClassDa.sh. By using classda.sh you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site. They are written in plain language; if anything is unclear, email david@classda.sh.

1. What ClassDa.sh is

ClassDa.sh is a free classroom display and homeroom manager, run independently by one person, David (“we”, “us”). It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by any school, district, state education agency, the U.S. Department of Education, or the makers of any interactive board or app it links to.

2. Who can use it

ClassDa.sh is made for adults (teachers and school staff) to run in front of a class. It offers no accounts or features for students to use on their own. If you use it with students, you are responsible for supervising that use, for deciding what is right for your classroom, and for following your school's and district's policies, including any rules about which apps you may use and what student information may be kept on a classroom computer.

3. Your class's information

  • Everything you enter is stored in the browser on your own device, and you remain in control of it. We never receive it (see the privacy policy).
  • Because we never have a copy, we cannot restore it if a browser is cleared, a computer is replaced, or a classroom file's passphrase is lost. Save a classroom file regularly; the app reminds you weekly.
  • Attendance, points, bathroom and out-of-class times in ClassDa.sh are a teacher's working notes, not your school's official records. Keep official attendance and discipline records in the system your school requires.
  • Enter only what you need. Don't put sensitive details (health, discipline or family matters) into notes.

4. What you may do

  • Use ClassDa.sh in your classroom, in person or in a live online lesson, as often as you like.
  • Show it to students, families and colleagues, and share links to it.
  • Print or screenshot the board, its tools and your lessons for your own teaching.

5. What you may not do

  • Copy or republish the app, its drawings (including the student pictures: the 50 animals, aliens, emojis and hobbies; the icons, job icons and doodles; and the Stretch kid), sounds or design as part of another site, app or product, or sell them.
  • Remove attribution, or present ClassDa.sh as your own or as an official publication.
  • Try to disrupt, overload or break into the site, or use automated means that degrade it for other people.
  • Use ClassDa.sh in a way that breaks the law or your school's policies.

6. Our content

The ClassDa.sh name, drawings, writing, design and software belong to us and are protected by copyright. Its sounds and music are ours or used under licence: the Freeze Dance and Relax songs belong to the artists named in the credits and are shared under the Creative Commons licence given there, which these terms don't limit, and some sound effects come from licensed sound libraries and may be used only within ClassDa.sh. Nothing in these terms gives you any right in our content beyond the use described above. Learning standards shown in the learning-target picker are published by each state's education agency and belong to their publishers; they come from the same collection as Your State Standards. Logos on the Links screen are simplified drawings that identify those services and belong to their owners. If you hold rights in something that appears on ClassDa.sh and want it corrected or removed, email us and we will act promptly.

7. Accuracy and suitability

We work to keep the schedule, timers, standards and tools accurate, but mistakes can happen. The noise meter is a classroom guide, not a calibrated sound-level meter. The weather comes from the US National Weather Service and may be wrong. ClassDa.sh is a teaching aid, not professional advice, and it makes no claim that using it will produce any particular behaviour or learning outcome. Never rely on it for anything safety-critical, such as emergency procedures or medical needs.

8. Other sites and donations

ClassDa.sh links to other sites, including ClassCake and TV on a Rolling Cart, which we also run, and sites you add yourself. Every site has its own terms, and we are not responsible for sites we don't run. ClassDa.sh is free; optional donations are handled by Ko-fi under its terms, are not refundable, and grant no special access.

9. No warranty

ClassDa.sh is provided free, “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or always available, or that it will work on every board, browser or school network. We may change, pause or discontinue any part of it at any time.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of ClassDa.sh, from reliance on anything it shows, or from the loss of information stored in your browser or in a classroom file. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us to use it, which is nothing, because it is free. Some places don't allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law permits.

11. Disputes

If something goes wrong, talk to us first at david@classda.sh. Most problems are fixable in a day.

If we can't work it out, these terms and any dispute about ClassDa.sh are governed by the laws of the United States and the U.S. state where ClassDa.sh is run, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim somewhere else. To the extent the law allows, claims must be brought individually, not as part of a class or representative action. Either side may use small-claims court for a claim that qualifies.

If you use ClassDa.sh as part of your work for a public school or other government body, nothing in these terms asks you to agree to anything your employer is not allowed to agree to under its own laws (for example, rules on governing law or liability). Those parts apply only as far as they are permitted. A district that needs a signed data privacy agreement can email us for one.

12. Privacy

How ClassDa.sh handles information is described in the privacy policy.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date above, and continuing to use ClassDa.sh after a change means you accept the updated terms. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
